Thousands of sets from one of Australia’s largest and most valuable private Lego collections are up for grabs on the cheap after a hobbyist decided it was finally time to offload their decades-long obsession.
The mammoth haul was built up over 50 years by a Brisbane woman and features more than 2000 building block kits, including themed sets from Star Wars, The Simpsons, Harry Potter, Marvel and Disney.

Rare and retired products make up two-thirds of what is up for sale and most items are brand new and factory sealed.
The Lego stockpile is believed to be worth $250,000 but items will be sold in a series of unreserved auctions, starting at just $1.
“This is the largest single Lego collection we’ve ever brought to auction,” Lloyds Auctions chief operations officer Lee Hames said.
“The sheer scale is remarkable but what really sets it apart is the concentration of sealed, retired and highly sought‑after sets.
“You simply don’t see collections of this calibre come to market.”
An original Star Wars UCS Star Destroyer is considered the headliner item and is expected to attract bids in the tens of thousands of dollars.
The collection will be sold across seven online auctions and bids are already filtering in from across Australia and internationally for hundreds of items.
“With Lego now firmly established as a serious collectable category, demand for quality retired sets has never been stronger,” Hames said.
The legitimate mega collection has made headlines just weeks after hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of allegedly stolen Lego was seized from an Adelaide home.
Experts said sets might not initially hold much value initially but grow over time and can be “worth quite a bit of money to the right audience”.
